Life Interrupted…

Life gets derailed, side tracked, oh- darn gone dirty too at times…mine got interrupted on May 29. For eight days to follow I was in a coma that only time would tell if I would come out of. For eight days family and friends held vigil. For eight days my husband watched not as the doctor; but as the husband helplessly as the other colleagues did what he would have and then some.

me… I have no recollection of what happened all I know I woke up to ecstatic faces on June 4th. As it came, it left- however it left scars that we are just assessing. And I learned the meaning of War Gaps. There will be things I will not recover, ever.

At he moment I am at a rehab facility where as a whole person I will be treated back all those parts that are so necessary to who I am.

To friends and family, and each and everyone of know who you are- thank you and yes piano, piano se va lontano…

Oh, Inal, I’m really shocked to read this! I hope you are doing well.
    What happened???
How long will you be rehabillitating?
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

    Ohhhhh!
    I’m shocked too!
I hope you recover soon! Don’t worry, there are lots of ways to live a good life although we’re not a 100% well.
Was it an ictus/derrame? My father had one and he has not recovered all his memory, thus could not go back to his work (catedrático de filosofía) but he’s living a quiet and relaxed life, in fact I believe now he’s really living… although he complains he can not drive any more..
Just want you to have faith, and try to see the positive side of things you should not be facing, but are here.
Hopefully you have a loving and caring family.
Keeping the blog will help you to remeber if you use it also as a diary.
Un abrazo MUY fuerte y sentido!!
    Take care!!!

Inal–Glad to hear you are in rehab–the miracle workers in my opinion. They help a friend recover so fully from a head injury (also broken nose, teeth, jaw, collar bone, ribs, pelvis, and heel) that unless she is tired there is no sign of the resulting hemiparesis.
I have another friend who spent 2 weeks in a coma after a motorcycle accident and recovered fully, well enough to do a Phd!
In other words, you will be my 3rd friend to recover fully!
    Abrazos, y cuidate bien!

Puca–So sorry about your father. If/when mine stops driving there will be major family disruption!

Yes, they are the most extraordinary I think in the field of Medicine!…but I am running a fever ( they are looking for the source), and my headaches are getting intense- plus the coughing is not letting me rest- I have tried a few times to sit up to write to you all, to thank you; but I keep slippin’… The Trip to Pittsburg has been set for two weeks from now- provided I can keep my lungs clear( the likely culprit of my fevers). The battery of tests will undo me if I am not better- please keep me in your thoughts and prayers

This one trip will tell us about our family- from various parts and various generations at various stages we will undergo a battery of tests and compare with what we found two years ago- so we are excited- but my lungs are not cooperating- I was just told the last film shows what may well be an infection- and my breathing is getting shallower and painful-
So you ask why am I writing- because I have to do something!

Keep writing, here and maybe in a private journal if you like. The upcoming assessment is exciting and scary at the same time I would imagine. I did research on the ethical complexity of genetics, and genetic testing in families. It is “complex” for all members who each have their own relationship to illness and knowledge.
The lungs must learn to cooperate with the brain and the rest of the body! Fortunately most pneumonias are treatable, especially in hospital.
I hope they give you something for pain since as you know, shallow breathing and restriction because of pain complicates any infection and causes atelectasis.
Maybe this is a good time to catch up on some happy reading–eg, la literatura dominicana, o Platero y yo, etc.
Or to assess the relative style merits of Michelle Obama, and Carla Bruni! Or throw in the various wives and lovers of Silvio Berlusconi and you have a whole the politics of the man reflected in the fashion of his women study! LOL 😀

    Check your email!
    🙂

My dear Inal, I am so sorry to hear this. I had no idea you and I’m just as shocked as Aafke. I am happy to know that you are feeling better and Inshallah the rehab will help.

I read your post and made a dua for you.

Please get better soon. I love you very, very much 😦

Thank you all, Suroor- I can’t even say when it started because all I remember is waking up and the doctors asking me if I recognized them- a few things have been suggested and discarded but for sure my life was interrupted for a brief period of time- am I scared it may happen again, the trip may also provide us with answers as their instruments are so much more refined and maybe a comparison of two years ago with now might clue us in.

All I can say that Allah gave me a time only He Knows why.

Dear friends thank you all for coming by or emailing me- I have had some setbacks and can only sporadically read emails as they come to the blackberry- since everything is in sync I can see all the messages- however I must make a big effort to write back- tonight is another of those sleepless nights, gasping for air has become my thing- they found the culprits and it will take some time for it to settle and I return to some semblance of my former self. My boss tells me everyday via email to keep my hopes high; to remember that it will take some time and lots of effort to put and keep me on the road to recovery…

Again thank you all- and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

One day soon I can return to blogging like before.

Inal–Thank you for the update. As I said in an email, no need to reply. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am happy to email sentiments and floral bouquets with no one-to-one correspondence.

I hope that you are now recovering piano piano but to full health.

Please do drop by here periodically, and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Inal, I hope you’re okay: only just found your site and see that things suddenly went very quiet a while back.

I came across the works of the Sufi writer, thinker and teacher Idries Shah in 1986 and love the humour and wisdom of Mulla Nasrudin.

    Take care,
    eric t.

welcome eric, make yourself comfortable. Today is the first time in a few months that i have sat before the computer to actually write. Thank you for you kind words; and yes Idris Shah and his fables are also a favorite of mine.

As I get stronger I will start posting again on the Mullah and other subjects.
