Chinese jar…

I love mountains. To be above the clouds. Thin air. Silence: When the wind stops, when the eagles glide, when the sun just lights the sky, when the rain clouds whisper their wet kisses on you.

Hubby and I sat this morning in the park. We walked in silence. We sat in silence. Caesar just sat between us head on paws. We lifted our heads to the sun.

‘Is it time?’
‘Yeah, its time.’
‘Then let’s go.’

Simply we agreed it was time to leave NYC for a while. We were toying with the idea, and we even had the plans in motion, but the conviction was missing. I need just as much as he does to go back to a simpler way. To the mountains we love. To the silence of the night pregnant with stories. To candles weakly chasing shadows, yet glowing with hope. To the mornings with few instructions, to casual long meals. To long hikes and climbs where one foot in front of the other is all that is required. To doing only the basics in a farm that glows in the basics.

‘We’re tired’
‘Yes we are’

Life here can be so busy that even sitting is a busy affair. ‘Like a Chinese jar, imperceptibly in motion’, says Thomas Moore. Its time to clean house, our souls’ homes. Time to ‘thin’ things out so we can move forward. We want the time so everything we do is deliberate, thought out, and necessary for that moment.

We want to settle until the waters glide clearly around us. I need to get healthier in body and in spirit. My husband needs to step away from performing at the edge he works from.

So the date is set. We want to be home for our anniversary. Its a special time when we take a good look at our lives and see what needs more and what needs less. Its the time we step out of the world we’ve created and reenter it the way we started. A new beginning, the starting from now. Like then we begin with very little- just us.

That’s good enough.
